We all know that craft is good for us - for our mental and physical wellbeing. We also know that being with friends is the same. So here's a kit that lets you get together with friends and spend some crafty time together. Just add comfy seats and a big mug of tea or a glass of your favourite tipple!
This weaving kit contains everything you need for 2, 4 or more people to make a unique handwoven yarn bowl, like the ones shown in the second photo. For each person, the kit will contain:
- Set of five wooden weaving sticks and threader.
- All the yarns you need for warp, weft and sewing up, together with a metal tapestry needle for sewing up.
- Ten page colour Instruction leaflet with step-by-step photographs showing how to make the bowl and also some information on how to then use the weavings sticks to make a variety of different bowls, rugs, scarves and more.
The weft yarn for this kit is a ball of my Upcycled Chunky Yarn. Upcycled yarn is super-chunky yarn that I make by mixing together wool and acrylic yarns from cones. Some contain 8 different strands of yarn, others contain 17 or 18 but each finished yarn is about about 3-4 wraps per inch (you'd knit this on about a 9mm needle if you wanted to - that's super-chunky!). It's a perfect thickness of yarn for these woven yarn bowls. Each ball of Upcycled Chunky Yarn is unique and so will have a different weight and yardage but every kit will contain a ball of about 100g.
Choose from purple yarns or cream yarn, for 2 people or for 4. I can also make up a kit for more than 4 people - just message me for details and with any colour preferences.
Like all my weaving kits, these yarn bowl kits are based on the workshops that I teach. I try to give the same information in these kits as I give in my workshops so, alongside the step-by-step instructions, I also give lots of hints and tips and suggestions for ways to develop the project to make it uniquely yours.
If you would like more information on the weaving workshops that I run, please see my website at www.bigskytextiles.co.uk There are also a few photos of yarn bowls that students have made in my workshops on my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bigskytextiles/
For most items, I use Royal Mail second class postage within the UK and the closest equivalent for other countries. Items are usually posted without tracking but I always obtain a proof of posting. If you would like any item sent with tracking or signed-for insurance, please let me know and I will be happy to arrange this for the extra fee, as charged by Royal Mail.
I aim to post orders within 1-2 days and I always send a confirmation note to let you know that it has been posted.
Your item should arrive within a couple of days of posting but please allow up to 15 working days as I can't report an item as missing with Royal Mail until then. If it remains missing after this time I will do my best to replace your order or will offer you a refund.
If you are local to me (near Bristol), you are welcome to collect your order if you like, either from my studio or from any of the local events I will be attending. Use voucher code LOCALCOLLECT to remove the postage charge from your order. I will message you to let you know when it is available and to arrange a mutually suitable time for collection. You can see all the local events I will be attending by following me on Facebook @bigskytextiles
You can pay for your order via Paypal, or using Etsy's Direct Checkout with a credit or debit card.
You can cancel your order at any time before the order has been posted out - but please contact me quickly to arrange this as I usually post the next day!
