Herbin Quill Pens with Ferrule and Nib Feather Color Deep Purple
How Purple- cannot really tell id it is Black, Navy/Persian Blue or Purple unless you are in just the right light.
These are manufactured in France for the J Herbin company
Instead of peeling the vanes off to hold the plain shaft, and having to sharpen the end, Herbin has made your life more convenient, and prettier
Each quill is equipped with a ferrule to hold the feather on one end and to insert your choice of writing nib in the other.
Each pen comes with a steel nib, suitable for plain writing or experimentation in the elegant Spencerian styles
The Feather is a Dyed Goose Quill
The Ferrule is brass (or brass plated) with a “steel” nib, according to the Catalog from the U.S. Herbin distributor.
What is nice about having the metal ferrule:
1. you can change out the feather- if it fits it works kind of thing
2. you can change the nib from an “elegant writer” to a calligraphy nib or something fancy like a “steno” “Blue Pumpkin”-
These are on the Display cards that may be found at museum stores etc.
This batch is from my “shop” inventory from when I traveled to “Events”.
Dimensions: Ferrule is +/-. 1 7/8 inches long by 3/16 inch in diameter
There are some subtle ribs and flutes on the ferrule to aid in gripping
The feather length above the ferrule varies between about 6 ½ inches to 6 ¾ inches
From nib to top of feather is approx. 9 ½ to 10 inches
Shipping will be in a corrugated cardboard flat “sandwich”
Pen wrapped in bubble wrap and nested in a cardboard flat

For calculated shipping, the cost is based on packing materials plus the postage. I recycle and reuse whenever possible- However I frequently need to use New Packing materials like Bubble wrap & Peanuts, Envelopes

I ship most Items Priority, First Class, (Flat Rate if it is more economical), and rarely Parcel Select(If that is a good Option)
