Hand-dyed wool yarn in gray-green tone that's reminiscent of willow bark.
This unique organic hue was created by dyeing wool yarn with black hollyhock flowers which were harvested from a farm in Washington. Natural colors derived from organic dyes are one of a kind and can have slight variations in each skein.
The yarn is 100% wool. The natural softness of wool fiber combined with a heavier weight makes this yarn a wonderful fiber for knitting wool garments and accessories. Each skein is 220 yards in length, worsted weight, ideal for #6-9 (4mm-5.5mm) knitting needles (4.5-5 sts).

Why natural dyes? Natural dye is sustainable and is less harmful for the environment and our bodies. Modern synthetic dyes which are in most of our textiles and clothes are made of toxic chemicals. Studies have show that mass produced synthetic dyes pollute our waterways, harm wildlife, and may be linked to cancer.
Supporting artisans: Your support of makers and artisans reduces our reliance on mass consumerism, the biggest culprit of most of our environmental problems including extreme climate changes. Your support also helps to bring back lost traditions and skills such as natural dyeing. As we recover these traditions, we become more in tune with nature and with our community.
