Item details

Ark clam is the common name for a family of small to large-sized saltwater clams or marine bivalve mollusks in the family Arcidae. Ark clams vary both in shape and size. They number about 200 species worldwide.

Naticid, common name the Moon Snail, is a minute to large-sized predatory sea snail. They are predatory, feeding mostly on bivalves. They envelop the prey and then bore a hole through the shell using its radula and an acid secretion. Once the shell is bored open, the proboscis is used to consume the flesh of the prey. The hole in the shell, which has a "countersunk" appearance and which varies in size according to the species, is a characteristic sign of moon snail predation.

This listing of Natural Ark Clam Shells is sold as a 5 oz collection. Complete with authentic Moon Snail holes, they'd be excellent for nautical jewelry or accessories. They can be used for Crafts and Mosaic work as well. Excellent for a seaside wedding or nautical themed party decor. The applications are endless!
