Item details

Note: This listing is for a knit PATTERN.

To felt or not to felt? This will be your decision. The "Bar Harbor Shell Bag" is beautiful and unique. The tessellating shells have a beautiful texture and are outlined in black for a stained glass look. The bag is beautiful whether you decide to felt it or not. You can use the bag for a while unfelted and later felt it for a different look.
Unfelted the bag has a rich texture and the shells stand out from the black outlines.
Felted the bag still has some stitch definition and does not look like a typical flat felted bag.
The bag is worked from the top down in rounds. There are 6 shells knit individually in each round. *It looks more complicated than it is and once you "get the hang of it" you will not want to put your knitting down. The pattern diagrams are pictures.

Dimensions: Unfelted, 15"across, 14"tall and a 10" round bottom. ..Felted: 14" across, 12"tall and a 9" round bottom, or felt to desired dimensions.
Yarn: The purple/periwinkle bag shown was knit with worsted weight wool.
The multi colored bag shown was knit with Noro "Kureyon". Noro "Kureyon" felts thicker with this pattern because of the texture of the shells.
Felted or not this is a beautiful and unique bag!
