I love T-shirt yarn, sometimes called tarn. I have always made my own from recycled t-shirts and have collected quite a supply. I have so many t-shirts now they are cluttering up my craft room and I need to start thinning out my supply.
I started out with T-shirt yarn in creating twined rugs. Eventually that lead to woven hot pads, potholders, place mats, baskets, pots and even woven eggs. I also have used T-shirt yarn in crochet and knitting. Some fun projects are a knitted iPad cover, crocheted market bags, and a variety of hot pads, flower garlands, and baskets. As you can see, you can use T-shirt yarn for just about any fiber project. I have even created some fun pieces of jewelry.
The T-shirt yarn that I am offering has been washed and then hand cut by me into a continuous 1/2 inch strip. The resulting strip is then pulled and stretched in a continuous piece of yarn. This creates a bulky weight yarn. Almost all of the yarn that I offer is one continuous length with no seams or joins. In the rare case that I have joined two piece of yarn together I will indicate it in the description. I would recommend washing in cold water and line drying. Do not put finished item in a hot dryer unless you want to shrink the project!
If you need a custom color let me know and I may be able to supply. Usually I can only supply about 50 to 60 yards of any color because it is very hard to find two t-shirts alike when you rely on getting your supply from thrift stores. Often I can come very close with the tint or hue where there is not much of a difference.
