This is a large, three-dimensional punch needle project completed in Paternayan wool and affixed to a wooden sewing basket. Basket and wool are NOT INCLUDED. While this was not a two-day project like most of my designs, the finished design gave me enormous satisfaction and turned out better than expected. The nap and colors of wool are so different from Perle cotton threads. They have a softer, gentler look. But there is no reason this can not be done with Perle Cotton instead of wool. It is your choice; however I have not included a conversion chart between the two.
This is NOT a beginner’s pattern, but rather for those who have had experience with punch needle and can follow rather complex instructions. These are broken down into sections (fields) to make them easier to follow. There are also blow-ups of parts like petals and eyebrows that are hard to see clearly because of size. There are two charts and details on loop levels and colors.
The pattern size is 6” x 9” on a piece of weavers cloth that is 15” x 20”. A large close-up glossy photograph is included on the cover of the pattern, as well as a small side look of the basket. Destined to become an heirloom, this lovely sewing basket has the pastel colors your momma (and me) loved so much. This would make a wonderful Mother’s Day gift for mom.
You will need a basket with a wooden top (NOT INCLUDED), a punch needle tool, punch needle frame, Paternayan wool yarns, or yarns of your choice, embroidery needle, small crochet hook, scissors, fusible fabric, fabric glue, and Scotchguard or something similar to protect your work from dust and spills.
Please contact me with any questions about this pattern, or if you are interested in having this pattern transferred by hand to a 2.5’ x 3.5’ piece of monk’s cloth for a rug hooking project.
Shipping within the continental U.S. is FREE for this pattern until May 1, 2018. Outside the U.S., shipping costs will be calculated.
