Recently acquired from a North Yorkshire farmhouse kitchen. These are original 1950s cast iron kitchen baking scales in red enamel with a large round brass metal pan and a set of 7 cast iron and brass imperial weights and heaps of rustic charm.
The red base does show signs of age and use and the pan is also quite rustic but both have had a protective polished coating of beeswax, so they are ok for use and if you look after them they will be usable for years to come.
The weights are all cast iron except for the 2 oz, which is brass and the 2lb weight has different markings so they probably have not always been together as a set. But they stack together well and have been around for about 60 years so I think this is entirely forgivable.
These are a great decorators piece, I am not sure how accurate they are but they would be a stylish addition to any kitchen, especially one with a country farmhouse, shabby chic or vintage look and would make a great gift or prop for a production set in an old kitchen.
Condition: In VERY GOOD shabby chic vintage condition. There are signs of age and past use but they are clean and usable. The weights are a mismatched set but they stack nicely. Please remember they are over 60 years old and please look at ALL the photos.
Base: 10" x 3½" Pan: 9" diameter Overall height 7" (with dish in place)
