I have 40 years experience as a Sewing Machine mechanic. In addition, i have 50 years of electrical and mechanical experience.
ABOUT MACHINE: I offer machines for USE. This machine is for those who love to sew. This machine was not designed by MBA's or salesman. A machine designed by Singer Co Sewing Machine Engineers to be an Embroiders, Seamstress', Tailors, or Quilters workhorse. The Early Machines are far more reliable than modern production , including Electronic models. With proper adjustment and superior lubricxants, much less maintainence is required.
SERIAL NUMBER: NB552164 per Singer List Made in 1956 at Anderson S. Carolina (Lists often disagree)
A COMPLETE ALL METAL MACHINE
Uniform Straight and Zig-Zag and Embroidery Stitches.
A Reverse Lever that STAYS-PUT in selected position. allowing you to hold the work and feed bias tape or other trim with both hands. A Push-Button Reverse does NOT allow that..
Machine Presser Foot adjusted to a capacity of over 3/8 Inch.
Darner on machine to adjust Presser Foots to the work is an adjustable screw-in style, far better than modern machines that have no adjustment, are so called automatic, or a few settings, at best.
Built-In Feed Dog (teeth) DROP for darning or free-style.
Made of Cast Aluminum, Steel, Cast Iron and Sheet Steel.
The motor drives the machines upper main shaft thru a Steel Spiral Cut Gear, driving a Cut Fiber Gear with a Start-Up Backlash Dissipating Circular Spring (to lessen start-up load on the motor. This Motor has a TOP Ball Bearing, and a BOTTOM Bronze Oilite Bushing, NOT PLASTIC, as in many modern machines. The TOP Ball Bearing has been replaced by me with a Bearing of a much higher quality and longevity than the Factory Original Gears are Cut Steel, NOT PLASTIC, and NOT ALZAK Pot Metal.
This is a Rotary hook machine.
Uses a Singer Slant Shank Presser Foot for greater work visibility.. Bight Control for Left-of-Center, Center, and Right-Of-Center Needle Position.
Over 25 DIFFERENT Presser Feet are available with some effort on your part. Included are many presser feet.
Spool Pins have been changed to Metal . Originals were Plastic that bends with age.
This machine is in perfect mechanical and electrical condition.
It has no mechanical or electrical defects.
SOME of WHAT WAS DONE:
I myself, service all machines i repair or sell, on or off the internet... .
Completely Restored and Rebuilt to Original Mechanical and Electrical Condition or better..
It has been completely overhauled, both mechanically and electrically. This takes 7 to 10 hours to do.
Machine has been completely cleaned internally 3 times, including motor internals, prior to lubrication Three Times with Tri-Flow Teflon Carrying Oil (Recommended by almost all Machine Makers, and the best oil for machines available).
All Gear-Sets lubed with Tr-FLOW Teflon Carrying Grease. I have found TriFlow requires relubrication rarely in almost all machines, even those used for Quilting.
Adjustment Set Screws have been loosened and re-adjusted to allow easy re-adjustment, should it ever need it.
My 75+ item checklist was used. I have 40 years experience as a Sewing Machine mechanic.
The motor has been completely disassembled cleaned.
Motor top Ball Bearing replaced with a better quality than original.
Motor Bottom Oilite Bronze Bushing relubed.
Motor brushes have been checked and reset or replaced as necessary.
The motor gearset and all others lubed with synthetic teflonfilled grease.
Its Back Lash Spring has been adjusted.
The GENUINE Singer TWO PAD Fully Adjustable Foot Control and AC Power Cord are UNDAMAGED NOT Dry Rotted, OR Rewired as needed.
The original Singer Lamp, and its wiring, has been resistance tested, and are in perfect electrical and mechanical condition.
This is a Rotary hook machine. All NON-GEAR Moving Mechanical parts have been cleaned 3 Cycles, prior to THREE lubrications with Tri-Flow Oil (Recommended by almost all Machine Makes, and the best oil for machines available). I have found TriFlow requires only annual lubrication in almost all machines, even those used for Quilting. GEARS have been lubed with TR-FLOW Grease.
All Shaft Gimbals have been adjusted for minimum end play.
PLEASE NOTE: Machine needs to be re-oiled rarely and MUST be OILED VERY SPARINGLY. A bottle of Tri-Flow oil and a vial of Tr-Flow Grease is included.
Sew-Off was done on 2 layers of light Fabric, and six layers of 14 oz. Denim Jean (14 oz denim is heavier than most Jean sold today), with a Schmetz Number 12 Universal Needle, to make sure Tensions are Just right.
I recommend you use only the PROPER Schmetz Needles for whatever you choose to sew.
Always Remember: You need to use the smallest size needle that will work, NOT the Largest that fits in the machine) IT WILL SEW:
This machine can sew everything from Silk to Layers of Sunbrella, Canvas, Carhartt, Denim Jeans, VERY Light Leather, with the PROPER Schmetz Needle.
ALL Workability also depends on Quality, Brand, Type and Size of Needle (Schmetz is unmatched), the quality and type of thread. LEATHERS SEWABLE THICKNESS: also depends on the KIND of leather, and the TANNING METHOD ( For Example: Chrome or Vegetable).
All machines sold by me include Schmetz Needle APPLICATION GUIDES, and additional info re Schmetz Advantages.
PLEASE NOTE: The biggest needle is NOT the BEST Needle, the smallest of the correct type that works well is the best needle. CONDITION:
MECHANICAL-ELECTRICAL:This machine is in perfect mechanical and electrical condition. It has no mechanical or electrical defects. COSMETIC : It is NOT in Perfect COSMETIC CONDITION. It is a WORHORSE, IT HAS BEEN WORKED.
This is a COMPLETE machine:
Singer Instruction Book, Singer Service Manual, Rebuilt and/or reconditioned Singer Original TWO PAD Foot Control with Cord and plug in good condition or with new UL Listed wire (4 foot foot control cord, 5 1/2 foot wall power cord),
TEN Presser Feet NEW and USED
Much Schmetz Needle Information so you use the correct needle for what you choose to sew. I also suggest you try Mettler Metrosene Thread, or Gutterman Thread (best 2 threads on the market). Thread is just as important as the Needle and the Machine.
MY POLICY has for my 40 years been one year Adjustment and Lubrication LABOR on Non-Commercial Use Repairs (Plastic Gears excepted), and Three Years on Non-Commercial Sales, (PARTS-LUBRICATION-LABOR). Still the same. Buyers are expected to absorb shipping costs to and from, i have had 2 instances of problems in 40 years.
IF you want a great machine, this is it.
