Looking for that perfect 3 colour shawl combo? We have dyed a collection of MCN fingering colour ways that we think are perfect compliments. The yarns are available as a 3 skein set or can be purchased individually. This is a REPEATABLE colour way but we suggest that you order enough yarn for your project as there are always variations in hand dyed yarns. We will ensure that we send your yarn from a single dye production.
MCN is absolute luxury. All the softness of high quality merino plus a little more with cashmere. Still a sturdy sock yarn but these feet are pampered. Versatile enough for other fingering weight projects, you will be in love with this yarn and spoiled for others.
Every skein of yarn has a story and at RavensWood Fibre Co, I get to be a part of that story.
Yarn and the process of working it by hand is a sensual experience. We are drawn first by colour, we are held by touch, we hold to dream of the who, the what, the where and sometimes why we need the yarn. A skein of hand dyed yarn is more than a string for a project. The colours and patterns draw us in. Every stitch anticipates the next colour change and how that will play against the fabric we create. We can find the rhythm of the needles/hooks meditative. When we work with hand dyed yarns we know that although you may see similarity in another skein, this skein is special. It is unique in the depth and breadth of pattern. It was built with kind hands that loved it from its birth to your hand.
What’s in a name? It’s the final gift. A part of my soul that I share with you. A reflection, a story, and often a giggle as I send this piece of me out to the world for you to continue its story.
I make every effort to ensure that the colours are photographed as accurately as possible using natural light, but every computer screen can be a little different.
To block your garment, add a good splash of vinegar to hot bath water. Although we make every effort to ensure that our yarns are rinsed well, different water conditions in your area may cause some colours to bleed. By using the above technique for your first wash, this should eliminate any possibility of spoiling your project. To keep your yarns bight and happy, I suggest that you hand wash your finished garments with cold water, rinse well and lay flat to dry on a clean towel.
