Here we have a 12mm crochet hook made out of rosewood.
I have shaped the hook until I feel it pulls through yarn as smoothly as possible. The entire hook has been sanded to 3,000 grit sandpaper, then buffed, polished with 3 levels of micron polishing paper, and finally coated and polished with a mixture of beeswax and olive oil.
This ensures a silky smooth surface that is completely chemical free. You can treat the hook as you would a piece of antique furniture, give it a rub down with some beeswax and oil every so often and you will have a beautiful one of a kind hook, for many years to come. Wooden hooks only get better with age and use.
