This vintage automatic rug cutter was manufactured by Bernat in Great Britain in the 1930's.
The cutter/tool is made of black bakelite/plastic and is three inches in diameter with a handle that turns easily. We are not sure if the cutter has a blade or not, and we do not care to disassemble the dandy tool to find out!
This Bernat cutter is in its original package, and directions are included. A rug maker's pencil math calculations add a bit of nostalgia and character to this little gem.
Considering its age, the box is in remarkably good shape, shorn up a bit with old pieces of masking tape yellowed with age.
Perhaps you are one who wants to 'cut a rug' but can't dance worth a whit. But you can make a wool yarn rug like your grandma taught you like nobody's business. Or maybe you or a friend is a collector of rug making accessories.
