This lovely and unique cream-colored miniature glove-shaped sewing case—which was probably a gift—was found wrapped in tissue in a bureau in the fashionable Upper West Side NYC estate of a former opera singer. This particular piece is distinctive for its beautifully detailed, delicately beaded period iridescent pearl and sequined beaded embroidery and dainty silver threaded embroidered accents; along with its charming diminutive size. The piece, which dates from the late 30s, is made of a cream colored felt, doubled so that it can be used as a case to store small sewing items. The case measures 6” in length by about 2 5/8” at the widest point. The piece is estate fresh and in very good vintage condition.
