This Tibetan style support spindle is loosely based on an ancient Greek spindle. The low center of gravity and the slender whorl give this beauty a very fast spin like a Russian but with a longer spin time.
The elegant whorl is turned from American Elm with decorative burning and a turquoise wood dye. The shaft is turned from black walnut. This gorgeous spindle has a very fast spin. The spinning tip is a stainless steel ball bearing.
The matching spindle bowl is also turned from American Elm with decorative burning and dyed with a turquoise wood dye. It has a fairly deep bowl with a nice weight and contour for confident spinning.
Spindle Weight: .90 oz. / 25g. Length: 10.75" / 27.5 cm

All of my offerings are finished with a protective french polish then buffed to a satin sheen with my own beeswax finish, which is not only durable, but eco-friendly as well. The beeswax finish also allows the true beauty of the wood to shine through.
I use sustainably sourced hardwoods from a local, small, family run mill. http://www.johnsoncreekhardwoods.com
