1940s Vintage fabric novelty rayon unique cold rayon Paris London European cities Empire State Silk novelty print Dress Fabric brown blue
There are two pieces in this listing (63" long and 31" long) -- 1 yard + 27" long x 44" wide -- and 31" long x 44" wide -- This is excellent condition silky slippery cold rayon fabric featuring a beautiful brown and blue motif. The motif has a bit of a toile vibe -- based on some research - some of the architecture and statues in this fabric appear to be found in Paris -- the man and horse statue that is in the Louvre, the Basilica De Sacre Coeur, Cleopatra's Needle Obelisk .... there are other images that include fountains, a horse and carriage, a bridge with boats below and more. Please zoom in on the photos to see the motif details that have an etched or sketched like style. This has a great reverse print as well (see last photo).
These pieces are in excellent unused condition. No selvage this fabric but you will also receive the paper tag (front and back shown in last 2 photos) that came with the fabric indicating it was manufactured by from Empire State Silk Corp. Dress Fabrics (note tag reads 4 yards but there is NOT 4 yards here). Colors are matched as close to the original as possible. The ground is brown, and some of the etching colors have a tinge of red - the blue is a classic blue. The repeat is about 11".
