~ This beautiful, large piece from a 1930s vintage quilt in the beloved grandmother's flower garden pattern has lots of fabric to use for projects. There are 12 flowers that do not have damage, and several others that do but could be used for primitive projects.
~ The entire piece is shown in the 2nd photo. The 3rd photo shows measurements of the border/binding edge and the long, nearly-straight edge. The piece is more that 41 inches by 27 inches, including the oddly shaped sections.
~ The flowers are 7.5 to 8 inches in diameter not including the white pathway, depending on where you measure. The hexagons are 1 inch or slightly less on a side.
~ One edge is a border edge, which has wear. All the other edges are rotary cut.
~ The piece has that lovely "old quilt" look and feel. Some of the fabrics have damage. The piece could be cut to a rectangle and used as a display piece, but the best use probably is for smaller projects.
~ Here are the major flaws:
The fabrics are overall slightly faded.
There are some age discoloration and faint marks on the front in the white muslin.
There is wear (tears) on the pieces along the border edge and the row next to it.
There is wear on 3 of the flowers, marked with an "X" in the 6th (next to last) photo. I did not find wear on the other flowers.
There is other wear in spots on print fabrics in some of the partial flower designs as well. I did not mark the spots.
~ The muslin backing appears to be a different, off white fabric than was used on the front. There are some stains/marks on the back that do not show through to the front.
~ The quilt appears to have been pieced entirely by hand and is hand quilted at 4-6 SPI. Every little hexagon seam is quilted on both sides, so the quilting is very dense (see last photo, which shows the piece from the back).
~ The batting is lightweight cotton.
Despite the blemishes, this is a lovely old quilt piece of a kind you don't often find anymore. There is lots of fabric for projects. It would make a lovely primitive display piece as well, just trimmed a bit into a rectangular shape.
I do my very best to accurately describe each piece of fabric I sell, but please remember that this piece was cut from a vintage quilt that was used and it does have flaws and blemishes.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I am always happy to provide additional information about my items.
On purchases of multiple items, Etsy calculates combined shipping when purchases are made on the same invoice (all items in a cart at once), but the amount is not always correct. I refund shipping overcharges of more than $1.00 immediately following shipment.
If a buyer wishes to have an order shipped to an address other than the buyer's address, the shipping address must be entered during the checkout process. Specifying a different address by convo or message is not sufficient to permit me to ship to that address. If an address changed is requested, I will refund and cancel the order, and ask the buyer to repurchase using the correct shipping address, in compliance with the Etsy Seller Protection Policy.
I no longer ship internationally to any country. Shipping is to U.S. addresses only.
I accept payment through Paypal via Paypal balance, credit card, or direct bank transfer, or through Etsy payments. I do not accept eCheck payments. I do not offer layaway services or installment payment plans.
Returns & exchanges
I accept returns only if I have made a mistake in the listing or an item otherwise is not as described in the listing, as long as the return is postmarked within 3 business days of receipt and is returned in exactly the same condition as it was received. The buyer must contact me prior to returning any item. Refunds will be issued after the item has been returned.
All of my listings are sold on a first come, first served basis. I do not "hold" or "reserve" items for purchase at a later time.
My prices are the same for everyone. I do not add a cushion to prices to allow for negotiating price or provide for free shipping. I treat all buyers the same and keep my prices as low as possible for everyone, rather than negotiating special prices for individual buyers.
Reviews are a valuable resource for both sellers and buyers. I rely on my reputation to inform new buyers about the quality of my products and level of customer service.
