Note: A composition change happened shortly after this yarn was released in 2003. The mill found that the yarn as designed was too weak & added the nylon for strength. Unfortunately Elsebeth Lavold yarns wasn’t notified by the mill of the change until 2008. June 1st 2006 until May 31st 2008 is the time span in which the yarn was mislabeled.
All items to be shipped within the USA and Puerto Rico are shipped First Class Mail or Parcel Post via USPS (2-5 days). We ship twice weekly save for traditional and federal holiday weeks (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Independence Day, and Memorial Day) where we will only be able to ship once weekly. If you require something to be shipped via USPS Priority or Express, please convo us and we'll reconfigure your total order. Insurance for items up to $100 is $2.10 and is HIGHLY recommended for fragile items. We will issue a refund for items that are damaged and uninsured (minus original shipping costs) OR offer you a discount on future purchases in our store. Please add $1.05 for Delivery Confirmation if desired. We are always glad to combine orders for shipping.
International Orders: items are shipped via First Class USPS international mail. Express orders are extra; please message us if you require faster shipping. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a confirmation number since the US Post Office does not offer that service for overseas orders.
All items are packed securely to minimize the potential for damage.
Need us to ship to a giftee? We'll do that, and at no extra cost to you.
We accept only PayPal for both domestic and International orders (Canada included). For orders within the continental US, Puerto Rico, and Guam, we accept PayPal and U.S. Postal Money Orders. No personal checks, please. We discourage against sending cash because it can get lost or stolen very easily.

Measurements, Sizing and Ratings.
Vintage clothing, while aesthetically delightful, can be also proportionately frustrating. Since women’s clothing sizes vary wildly from decade to decade, what fit your size 12 mother in 1960 most likely won’t fit the size 12 you today. Plus, manufacturer’s sizes vary: if you wear a small in one brand, perhaps a medium will fit you better in another. European and American sizes are also at odds for comparison. One more caveat to wrangling with vintage duds: oftentimes, the original label has been removed – or, in the case of handmade pieces, was never there at all.
So what to do? To make it simple for everyone, especially you, the buyer, we at Cottontail Vintage simply measure the width of garments flat and then double the measurement.
All clothing is sold in clean, wearable condition unless otherwise noted in the description. We use a rating system of Excellent, Very Good and Fair. Please read the condition guidelines below.
Excellent – Like-new condition. No visible flaws.
Very Good- Pre-worn, minor flaws if visible at all, but good wearable shape.
Good - May display some fading or haves spots, but is generally in good condition and still wearable.
RECOMMENDATIONS: For care of your vintage investment, we recommend:
Hanging garments on padded hangers (dresses, jackets) or folding them gently and placing them in a drawer (trousers, sweaters)
Dry-cleaning or hand-washing in a mild detergent such as Woolite or Tide with gentle cleansers. A good relationship with your local dry cleaner is a blessing. Make sure they are equipped to handle, and have had experience, laundering vintage garments. If you must wash your garments at home, a lingerie bag is a good idea for laundering more delicate pieces or clothes with jeweled or embroidered detail.
A tiny portable sewing kit. Keep it with you at work, in your purse, or glove box. As well, you may want to have on hand an extra supply of serviceable, plain buttons to sew on in an emergency.
Avoid bleaching whites. Through the ravages of time, older fabrics are more susceptible to disintegrating underneath today’s harsh chemicals. A better solution to whiten old clothes is a capful of white vinegar or a few teaspoons of baking soda mixed in with your regular detergent.
Genuine silver jewelry – often stamped with “925” on the underside – should be kept in a jewelry box or wrapped up to prevent oxidation (browning).
Costume jewelry should be cleansed in a mild solution of dish soap such as Palmolive, and cool water. Brush gently with an old, soft toothbrush, rinse, and air-dry. We hope you enjoyed shopping with Cottontail Vintage and commend you on keeping the ‘vintage lifestyle’ alive!
