Item details

I was inspired to create Extension Points while taking a class with a well-known woodturner. We all had the same problem when we tried to finish our delicate finials – we were just too close to the live center.

These points go in either the Oneway or the Powermatic live centers and add about ½” of room. Also, they are only 3/8” which allows lots more access to the timber.

Originally there were just three – Micro, Small and Flat - but, I found them so versatile that I added the Cone and Inverted Cone points a few months later. They are available here individually, in the original set of three (Micro, Small, Flat) or as a set of five.

I have sold hundreds of points to turners all over the world and many top demonstrators use them in their work.

Give them a try. I know you will not be disappointed.

Details on each point:

Small point
For support when holding on a specific mark. Great for most timbers.

Micro point
just like the "Small point" but even smaller. This works best on very hard woods like Boxwood, Cocobolo, Ebony, or Blackwood.

Flat point
for pushing or holding without leaving a point hole.

Inverted cone
for centering a tapered piece or for extra side-to-side support. I use this on big pieces where I don't want the point sinking in.

Tapered cone
a strong point for heavier work when you still want the extra room. I also use it to sink through Bark when I am green turning.

Zip or postal code

I prefer to use the postal system rather than commercial carriers - there is a lot less hassle over Customs. However, for large items this may not be possible. In those cases I will discuss shipping with you beforehand.

In general, I will ship immediately (within one business day) after payment is made. I always declare the full value of each item and you are responsible for taxes and duties applicable in your country/state.

Returns & exchanges

I make every attempt to describe and show all items accurately but sometimes misunderstandings do occur. If it is within my power I will make every effort to make you happy.

Please note: many carriers will NOT insure handmade items beyond a value of $100. When shipping more valuable items I will work with you to ensure appropriate shipping insurance.

Additional policies

I will make a similar item to any item listed here under commission unless it says otherwise in the description. I require 50% of the purchase price in advance and will give you an estimate delivery at that time. Please remember that many of the items you see here are made from "seasoned" wood and that process can take up to several months.
