Kids as young as 6 can do this project with adult help.
You will need:
A hairdryer with a low speed Paper towels Scissors
Designs available for the egg sleeves are Bright Colors, which look like Russian jeweled eggs with icons; White Background, which have icons on a white decorated background, or Traditional Designs, which are the traditional geometric designs usually made with a wax-resist process on Ukrainian Easter eggs. The Traditional Designs do not have any icons or religious imagery on them but do have a rich cultural tradition.
Perfect for Sunday School, Religious education, CCD, and ECF teachers too! Look what one happy customer has to say about our Wooden Pysanky Kits:
“Y'all, let's talk about how great it is that Elisa's awesome kits put everything you need right in one place and will deliver them right to your or your loved one's door! I actually had already gotten most of my egg supplies when Elisa posted about this a few weeks ago, and you'd better believe my husband would *love* to get back the time it took to gather everything together.
I make eggs for my ECF kids when I can, to share our pysanky tradition, because the preschoolers are too little to really make these projects with yet, and the wooden eggs are great, while the wraps are a real time-saver, and more beautiful than the work I can do in the time I have right now. Based on the supplies I had to hunt for for my own version, and not even factoring in just how much of a pain they are to find, the pricing of Elisa's kits is quite a good deal.
I highly recommend them for ECF classes, or as a way to share the tradition with special people who may be younger, far-off (my nieces used to love getting wraps when I sent them - imagine getting the eggs, too!), or just not able to or interested in working with actual fire (college students! busy moms! people who don't want the darned egg to get broken in a week!).
Elisa's suggestion for coloring the eggs [wax stain with crayons] is one I wish I had thought of - I use acrylic paint, and it's a pain.
And, these eggs don't break! (Lol, the first thing one of my ECF kids tried when it was handed to him!) Sure to put a big look of relief on your ECF kids' parents' faces! (Cannot guarantee nobody will try to bean himself in the head with his egg - there's always one. 😆)”
My Godson really enjoyed making these, and they turned out beautifully!

Absolutely gorgeous! easy to use with my kids with ages ranging from 4 to 16. Beautiful results. My girls ended up finding some sparkle crayons that also worked well. On a side note, since we had one cheap hair dryer and 6 kids, we ended up melting the wax crayon layers for 15-20 seconds in the microwave. It worked well, just be sure to test how hot the egg is, before handing back to the kiddos.
