Item details

** This listing is for the medium and large bags only - you can find the small bag, which has a lower shipping cost, here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/612115203/drawstring-project-bag-made-with-quilted?ref=shop_home_active_1 **

I've been making project bags for makers and crafters for several years now, but this is the first drawstring style project bag I've ever made. I guess the main reason for this is that I'd never used one myself, as I tend to make things for my business that I'd make for myself! I have finally been converted to the charms of a drawstring project bag now though, and I know lots of knitters prefer them - they're so easy to work out of and tend to be super roomy.

I wanted my first drawstring to be something special and particular to my own making style, so my first foray into the drawstring world features patchworked and quilted Liberty tana lawn panels, alongside silver metallic Essex Linen and a small scale woven gingham. I'm also offering the bag in 3 different sizes, which sit nicely together because I've been careful to keep them in scale with each other. The largest bag would be perfect for a blanket sized project and its patchwork squares are 5 inches. The medium bag has 4 inch square patches and would be great for a sweater or shawl project. The baby bag is made with 3 inch patches and is perfect for sock knitting. You can see the dimensions of all three bags in the last photograph. Please note that the depth of the bags at the bottom is the same at 3.5 inches / 9cm - another way to keep them in scale with each other.

The bags are constructed by piecing together 12 different Liberty print squares (which are all interfaced with woven cotton first) then adding the Essex Linen surrounding panels. The whole of the outer is then interfaced with woven cotton, I add a layer of soft fleece, and I then machine quilt around the patchwork squares and panels. The lining is a pale blue gingham cotton, which is also interfaced with woven cotton. I use the same gingham to make the drawstings and there are two loops with snap fasteners inside the bag, made with the Essex Linen blue, which can be used either as yarn guides or as a method of attachment for anything you like. There are two of these loops in the large and medium bags and one in the baby bag.

Please note that as this is a made to order item, the Liberty prints I use may sometimes change from those pictured, but if there are particular prints you're keen to have included on your bag, just let me know and I'll include them if I can. If you'd like a bag made to the same design but using a different colour scheme, just convo me to chat about a custom order - see the last photo for an example of a custom bag made with purples and pinks.

On receipt of your order, I'll confirm whether the item you’ve requested is in stock. If it is, I'll usually post it to you within 48 hours. Because of the nature of my items, many of them are handmade to order and if this is the case, I'll confirm the estimated dispatch date to you on receipt of your order.

I ship within the UK, Continental Europe and the United States, and shipping costs are given for each item.

For larger / more valuable items, the shipping costs stated already include UK signed for postage or Tracked postage for International shipping but I do also offer some shipping upgrades for most other domestic and international packages, which you will see as an option in your cart when you check out. One of the upgrades is for tracked international postage, which is the best international service available at a reasonable cost. International Tracked items receive priority handling and benefit from an online tracking facility so you can check your items's progress right through to delivery. If you're in Continental Europe and would like to upgrade your Standard Shipping item to the tracked service, please message for a quotation, as it may be lower than shown at checkout.

I'm also happy to post direct to a giftee and include a hand written message - either include this on your order or convo me separately, whichever is easier for you.

If you have other particular postage or delivery needs, please convo me to discuss. Please note that I can't expedite or guarantee delivery internationally, but the service to most countries is already generally pretty quick from the UK (for example, 1 to 2 weeks to the USA).

Delivery is always as per the Royal Mail’s estimated delivery timetable (see the Post Office web site: http://www.postoffice.co.uk/).

Please note that responsibility for compliance with your country's laws and procedures regarding any conditions or restrictions applied to the item(s) you order from me, rests entirely with you, at all times. I'm also not responsible for any costs or charges that might be applied by your country's border / customs authorities.
