925/10 silver-filled is sterling silver that is mechanically bonded to a base metal. This is a strong physical bond, not weak electroplating, so the sterling does not flake or wear off. A lot of silver-filled products are labeled 925/20, which means it must have at least 1/20 of its weight in silver, or 5% silver. At Taurii I prefer 925/10 silver filled, which contains 10% sterling silver - BETTER! You care for your 925/10 silver filled jewelry in the same way that you do your solid sterling pieces. It WILL tarnish over time, as 925SS does, and is cleaned in the same way - using gentle detergent and a soft brush / cloth, or the pre-treated cleaning cloths. I do not recommend the harsh silver dips and polishes, especially if your piece contains stones / pearls. Once fully air dried, your jewelry is best stored in little airtight zip lock baggies. Exposure to air is what causes the dark oxidation - or tarnish - process.

Gold-filled is an economical alternative to solid gold. By law, it has 1/20th by weight layer of 14 karat gold permanently bonded over a core of base metal. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and, unlike gold plated, will not wear off. It is considered a fine metal, and you care for it in the same way as you do your solid gold pieces, gently cleaning them with mild detergents, soft brush and a buffing cloth.

A pearl formed in a mollusk, often a mussel, that lives in freshwater rather than salt water. The pearls come in many shapes, sizes and colors. They form as any other pearl, built up in layers called nacre.

Austrian Swarovski crystal is fired using a combination of natural minerals and quartz sand, cooled slowly to avoid stress and inclusions, a process perfected by the Swarovski family over the last 100 years. These crystals contain a higher than average percentage of lead, which increases light refraction, and are extremely crisply faceted, hence the extra sparkle!
