This solid cherry lidded sewing box with a solid oak steam bent swing handle is crafted after a Sabbathday Shaker Village design. Box is a #6 size Shaker box measuring 10 1/2” by 7 1/2”. Height is 4 1/2” - 11” with handle up.
The band is steamed and hand wrapped around a mold after the overlap finger has been hand carved. Copper tacks are then used to secure the band.
Sewing box is lined with a beautiful deep forest green fabric with red and gold floral pattern.
Sewing box includes a hand stitched pincushion attached to the side. True to Shaker design and technique, each pin cushion is hand stitched by Diane with detailed spider work.
Also included is a #2 Shaker Button Box. Measures 5 1/2” by 3 1/2” and 1 1/2” tall. Button Box is cherry sides and birds eye maple top.
Each sewing box is stamped and hand signed by the artist. Hang tag with description attached.
