19th-century Sheffield made folding multi-tool comprises:
A main blade, a quill pen cutter, a pair of scissors, a button hook, a corkscrew, a saw, a nail file & a pin
Genuine mother of pearl panels.
Original high carbon antique steel, stamped "STAND T. RENSHAW & SON" on the larger blade. The smaller blade has a stamp/name but indecipherable.
Nickel silver pins. Brass liners.
Free from monograms.
Carbon steel, which unlike stainless steel, can be ground to a very sharp cutting edge. Early/antique folding knives were made using carbon steel.
DIMENSION: Length : CLOSED 7.8cm (3"). OPEN with both blades extended 16cm (6 1/4"). approx.
The long blade measures 5cm (2") approx.
CONDITION: Splits on the MOP panel on one side, the scissors lacking spring, the pin not full length. The short blade extends beyond 180°. All tools have a nice snap to them except the long blade, which protrudes slightly when closed.
