These mittens feature a band of wicker stitch for the cuff. The cuff is knit flat first. Stitches are picked up around the cuff to start the mitten. Then the hand of the mitten is knit in the round. Try this unique way to knit a pair of mittens!
These mittens come in 5 different sizes: (length x circumference)
**Toddler:** 6.5”(16.5 cm) x 5.5”(14 cm)
**Child:** 7.5”(19 cm) x 6.5” (16.5 cm)
**Adult Small:** 8"(20.5 cm) x 7”(18 cm)
**Adult Medium:** 8.5”(21.5 cm) x 7.5”(19 cm)
**Adult Large:** 9”(23 cm) x 8”(20.5 cm)
Ava Mittens were designed with Rowan Superwash worsted weight yarn. You can use your favourite superwash worsted yarn!
Amount of yarn required:
90 (120, 150, 180, 200) yards
80 (110, 135, 160, 180) meters
Needles: 4 x 5 mm [8 US] dpns or large circular needles for magic loop
Gauge: 18 stitches x 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) x 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch
Also require: tapestry needle, 4 buttons, cable needle, stitch holder, 2 stitch markers
