1. SOUND OF ANIMALS: Michael Chour : Thailand

"More than 12 years ago I left my life in France. I had already visited Thailand before. When I met my wife the first thing she asked me was if I loved dogs. At a young age she had experienced a traumatic event. She witnessed a villager kill and eat her dog. Together we settled 100km from Buriram on the border of Cambodia, in the middle where there were slaughterhouses for dogs. This is what fueled us for the years that followed to save as many dogs as possible and to stop this abomination. Seven years ago Thailand put up laws to end the dog meat trade and the transport of dogs to other countries. But the number of dogs left abandoned was enormous. The activists were gone. It was incumbent on us to take care of the aboriginals. There are still cases of people eating dogs but now people contact me and I can go save those dogs. Our house is full of dogs saved from the meat farms. So we have had to start finding other places for our street dogs to live and where we feed them. But the policy north of Thailand is to do nothing. Here, there are no tourist. No beaches. Dogs die of hunger and disease. We take care of more than 300 dogs that we have placed in various homes with individuals or in Buddhist temples. We continue to feed and take care of them every day. Taking the sickest into a veterinary clinic. Not long ago we became financially unable to take care of all of the dogs. This is when we decided to open a community on Facebook to get help from others and show the reality of what is happening here. Our community is called The Sound of Animals, in memory of screams we heard coming from slaughterhouses. Screaming cries that haunt our memories day and night for years. Back when I lived in France I had a very good job. I also had two companies, one for building houses and the other for security. I had volunteered to help in humanitarian work for many years with different health organizations for underdeveloped countries. I also helped the animals on the same occasions. I found myself selling everything in France to help animals in Thailand. I am forever indebted to those that help me be able to continue this fight. There is no association or any foundations where I am. There is no refuge, we are alone. At times we are even in conflict with locals because they do not agree with what my wife and I are doing. They do not appreciate dogs. I could have chosen to work in a big hospital and earn a lot of money. However, I am committed body and soul in the rescue of the dogs at the border of Cambodia."

2. SAVEKOREANDOGS : Nami Kim : Korea

Nami has been working to end the dog and cat meat trade for decades, and has saved the lives of roughly 1150 dogs over the course of her long activism career. Nami Kim is the founder and leader of Save Korean Dogs Organization. Recently, she began saving meat farm dogs five and a half years ago and has quickly built her name up as a leader in the Korean Anti-Dog Meat Movement. Nami goes into illegal meat farms, negotiates with the butchers, brings them to the authorities to shut down, treats the rescued dogs, and then finds them homes in the US, UK and Canada. Nami works with activist groups in cities all across Korea to spread awareness and at the governmental level to strengthen laws. Nami is involved with legislation of the new animal protection law amendment working with Congressman Pyo, Chang Won, the chairman of Animal Welfare Committee of National Assembly of S. Korea.

3. NO DOGS LEFT BEHIND: Jeffrey Beri : China

No Dogs Left Behind is a registered 501 3 C aimed at ending the Dog Meat Trade in China....they are a global animal rescue organization. They engage in every stage of rescue from emergency response to final adoption thru international alliances and engaging local resources. Jeff has rescued hundreds of dogs from china, successfully treating rehabing and transporting them to the US.

"My name is Jeffrey Beri. I have just come off a historic rescue mission in China, successfully treating, rehabilitating and transporting 121 dogs from Yulin 2016 with significant funding from Soi Dog Foundation and additional transport sponsorship for 11 dogs by American Humane Society. No organization in China has ever successfully completed these steps, from slaughterhouse to adoptive homes in America in 8 months with this quantity of dogs. Most of the dogs were trussed up with ties around their legs, tortured and beaten by the neck and head. Many had highly fatal infectious diseases and were fearful to be touched, let alone loved again. It took my team and I months upon months of constant treatment and rehabilitation for these dogs to be cured and learn to love.

I am going back to China and will bring to safety in America, 50 more dog meat trade (DMT) dogs that are desperately in need of a new start. One of the huge attributes of bringing in DMT dogs is that when they walk the streets of America, their lives speak of the potential of a cruelty-free future globally. These dogs will come from various rescue organizations that are the front-line of rescue in China, either stopping DMT trucks, intercepting street dogs that are at risk for being inhumanely captured and butchered, and rescue organizations that are over capacity with dogs that are at severe risk of infectious disease and death.

The selection process will be extremely complex, however scientific and protocol driven with respect to the health and quarantine inspection of each dog, plus behavior assessments will be conducted and training implemented to provide for a seamless adoption process when transitioning to their new lives in America. Some of these dogs may require additional medical treatment or rehabilitation prior to their departure.

Flight volunteers will be flown in from America and dogs will be transported 5 at a time to various reputable USA rescue organizations, who have successfully worked with me previously and found forever homes for 121 Yulin 2016 dogs whose lives are now cruelty-free."

4. FRIENDS OF YANG: Yang Xiao Yun : Tianjin, China

"Our team established Friends of Yang in June 2016 with the genuine hope of easing 68 year old Madam Yang's burden and improve the lives of the animals she rescues. During the past 7 months, with your kind support and generous donations, we have managed to provide the animals with vet visits, adequate medical supplies, and 3 enormous new roofs for the damaged shelter. The animals also have full bellies thanks to our Japanese partner team. We're thankful that Madam Yang & her animals can stay safe, warm & full in the shelter despite the harsh winter weather in Tianjin. Madam Yang is the symbol of the anti dog meat movement and her sacrifices have caught the imagination of thousands. Together we can help bring awareness and hopefully one day a stop to this horrendous trade."

These women advocates are our United Kingdom mediaries and managers for Madam Yang (FRIENDS OF YANG) and Michael Chour (SOUND OF ANIMALS) who because of their extremely remote locations within China and Thailand, do not have paypal accounts by choice. Madam Yang is not tech saavy and probably doesnt even own a computer. Our ladies accept our ETSY money on their behalf, then transfer it to them. This is Victorias facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/victoria.charlotte.5 (her facebook page name is different from her paypal account) and this is Marcellas facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/marcella.palfrey?ref=br_rs.... and You'll see both women linked to those rescue groups on their facebook pages.

There are so many ways the money is put to use, it would be hard to talk about them all; but basically and most urgently needed is veterinary care. Each rescue runs a bit different but the end result is the same: get as many dogs out of the hands of butchers and dog meat markets as possible. By time a dog is rescued; many of them are extremely sick - they have not been tended to in a long time. Vets and medicines are the biggest cost- as is food. Heat in winter, adequate shelter, building repairs or construction, transportation costs, (to airports) flight volunteers, flight fees & negotiation fees between butchers and rescuers. These are some of the most costly things- but by no means everything!

Etsy is a platform for handmade items. Anything you have personally made with your own hands. But we also will accept anything vintage- which is at least 20 years old, or supplies to make other things (examples would be crafting supplies, yarn, beads, old books, jewelry findings, buttons, ribbons, wire, wood, etc). If you have any of those things and would like to donate - just message us!
