This Yarn bowl, decorated with black splashes on white stoneware, under a clear glaze. Is ideal for knitting and crocheting as well as a decorative carved ceramic stoneware bowl.
The 2 holes at the rear are designed to hold your knitting needles. You can feed the yarn through the holes at the front or around the yarn hook. The bowl itself prevents wool from rolling away or around the floor, making it less attractive to pets and and toddlers!!
These bowls start their lives as a 'lump' of stoneware clay, they are traditionally thrown on the wheel, dried for a day, before they are turned and curved, and left for a further week or so to dry fully. at the point the bowl receives its first fire - the bisque fire at cone 04 (approx. 1050 degrees celcius) this partially vitrifies the clay and burns off any organic inclusions. once they are cooled the glaze is applied, they are then returned to the kiln and fired to cone 6 (approx. 1220degrees celcius).
The bowl shown is the actual bowl which will be sent.
All of my products are hand made by myself in the UK using traditional ceramic techniques.
