Item details

This natural white Cheviot combed top is ready to be spun or felted. It is a softer, off white fiber. It is a smooth spin with a slight and advanced spinners. It takes dye well

Cheviot has a longer staple length averaging 4-5 inches and an average micron count of 27-33. This makes it a great fiber for beginner spinners or a fun easy spin for experienced spinners.

The Cheviot breeds of sheep are named after the Cheviot hills that run the boarder between England and Scotland. There are several varieties of the breed found in the US and the UK, all sharing similar breed characteristics. There are stories of these sheep in England, dating back to the fourteenth century. They were imported to the US and Canada in the early 1800's.
