Offered here is a very unusual and old 8 ½" x 11" x 3" Victorian Album for Cabinet Cards, Tintypes and/or CDV's (carte des visite). Its nineteen (19) double sided, empty pages are edged in gold, and are securely attached to the binding with metal. The pages will accommodate 136 cabinet cards and 12 cdv's/tintypes.
It was manufactured by the Art Album Co., of Battle Creek, MI. The leaves and covers are detachable and interchangeable with the unique metal backing.
The blue colored front cover and the gold colored back cover are both worn with age, and have metal along the sides, as well as metal corners. The metal word "Album" is the embellishment on the top
The metal clasp is reticulated, and holds the album secure. Just a few of the dark wood grain pages are torn. It is a sturdy 4¼ pounds in weight.
Aside from the time worn fabric covers, this is an amazing album! What an interesting piece of our history, too...ready to be filled with photographic memories.
