Item details

Price is per 1m length.

This Lucet is made by braiding a single strand of wool over itself. The yarn it is made from is 100% wool from British sheep.
This is used for everything from tying up braes to tying back hair. The cord has a slight elasticity to it which makes it great for hair ties and tying areas that move like knees and elbows.
Most of the length of this Lucet is also made while sitting around at reenactment events.

FAQs

If you buy an item as a gift I am happy to wrap it up, either in a modern style with some pretty paper or a reenactment style with some dyed linen.

Most of my items that are sewn can be customised, If you are worried that a standard size wont fit you for whatever reason just send a message with your order and I will endeavour to accommodate you.

Most items in my store are handmade and as such should be treated with some care. Metal items should be gently wiped clean, dried and possibly cleaned with metal abrasive if rust shows. Clothing items with little or no embroidery can usually be machine washed, on a gentle setting no more than 40 degrees. If your machine has a dedicates or reduced spin option then that's perfect! Clothing items with embroidery or natural dyes should be hand-washed with a very gentle detergent (baking soda in warm water works perfectly) I would recommend wearing any embroidered pieces with undergarments to protect them from body odour which reduces the amount they need washing and as such their life.

Some items in my store are naturally dyed, this means that the colour was extracted from various plants and minerals. Some colours such as deep reds are not 'colourfast' this means that with washing or sun exposure the colour will fade. While every attempt is made to properly use mordants and fixers on my dyes the nature of natural dying is that chemically the colours are a lot less stable than modern ones. If you really like the shade or design of a naturally dyed item but don't want to commit to something that may fade on you I can dye garments and thread with modern dyes and have got quite good at colour matching.
