This is the largest of the 5 butterfly dress trims from the 1920s that I am currently listing.
This 1920's dress trim looks like a piece of jewelry. Many of the dress enhancements and buttons of the late 19th Century and the early 20th Century were part of a woman's jewelry wardrobe. The silver toned metal butterflies are encrusted with crystal clear rhinestones. The result is beautiful.
It has a 2 & 5/16" wing span and is 1 & 1/2" tall. There are 3 loops, one on each top wing and one bottom center, to attach to the garment. It is signed on the back but I can't tell what it says.
The trim is in very good, vintage condition. I don't think it was ever put to use. I purchased this at an estate sale in Vermont a few years ago. The 4 pictures are a big part of my description. Please be sure to view them all so you have a good idea what you are considering. Close-ups photos show things not easily seen with the naked eye. I see no flaws to mention. All stones are present. No corrosion on the metal.
This could be used to enhance a special evening or cocktail dress. It could also be used to make a special, hand made piece of jewelry, flapper headband or purse trim. It is lovely. Combine with the other 4 currently has listed for more impact.
