This listing is for a precious 33-inch by 25-inch piece of a vintage patchwork quilt in a pattern called Periwinkle, which is similar to and often confused with the Hummingbird pattern. Details are:
~ The entire piece is shown in the 2nd photo. Two edges are binding edges, both of which have a lot of wear. The other two edges are rotary cut.
~ The two binding edges seem to have stretched out a little bit, so the piece is not a perfect rectangle, even though I did cut it along the pattern lines.
~ There is some fading on the front, and some fabrics more faded than others. Many of the colors are still fairly bright, despite the slight fading. This quilt was loved and used, but it still is in great condition for its age.
~ There is slight age yellowing over the front. There are a few places where they are tiny spots. There is some slight wear on some of the fabric pieces as well. In the upper right corner, there is a tear in the print piece right at the corner and a small hole in the creamy white fabric next to it. I use Alene's Fabric Fusion glue, which is washable, to repair small tears in my quilt pieces (but I never use it on pieces that I sell), and it would work well to repair this small tear.
~ The fabrics are a wide variety of wonderful 1930s and 1940s prints, including many sweet florals. Quite a few of them appear to be feedsack fabrics.
~ The periwinkles (floral patches) were machine-pieced, and they were pieced to the solid creamy white fabric with hand stitches.
~ The quilting on the piece is hand stitched at about 6 SPI. In each white patch, there is a stitched flower.
~ The backing is solid medium grayish blue, a bit darker than it looks in the last photo. The backing was brought to the front for the binding (which, as noted above, has considerable wear).
~ As noted above, the piece has medium weight cotton batting that is a little thinner near the binding edges.
I do my very best to accurately describe each piece of fabric I sell, but please remember that this piece is from a vintage cutter quilt that was loved and gently used.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I am always happy to provide additional information about my items.
This is a gorgeous piece! Very happy with purchase-thank you!
On purchases of multiple items, Etsy calculates combined shipping when purchases are made on the same invoice (all items in a cart at once), but the amount is not always correct. I refund shipping overcharges of more than $1.00 immediately following shipment.
If a buyer wishes to have an order shipped to an address other than the buyer's address, the shipping address must be entered during the checkout process. Specifying a different address by convo or message is not sufficient to permit me to ship to that address. If an address changed is requested, I will refund and cancel the order, and ask the buyer to repurchase using the correct shipping address, in compliance with the Etsy Seller Protection Policy.
I no longer ship internationally to any country. Shipping is to U.S. addresses only.
I accept payment through Paypal via Paypal balance, credit card, or direct bank transfer, or through Etsy payments. I do not accept eCheck payments. I do not offer layaway services or installment payment plans.
Returns & exchanges
I accept returns only if I have made a mistake in the listing or an item otherwise is not as described in the listing, as long as the return is postmarked within 3 business days of receipt and is returned in exactly the same condition as it was received. The buyer must contact me prior to returning any item. Refunds will be issued after the item has been returned.
All of my listings are sold on a first come, first served basis. I do not "hold" or "reserve" items for purchase at a later time.
My prices are the same for everyone. I do not add a cushion to prices to allow for negotiating price or provide for free shipping. I treat all buyers the same and keep my prices as low as possible for everyone, rather than negotiating special prices for individual buyers.
Reviews are a valuable resource for both sellers and buyers. I rely on my reputation to inform new buyers about the quality of my products and level of customer service.
