I hand spun this bulky lockspun art yarn called Gala using Leicester Longwool, a rare heritage breed of sheeps wool. This yarn would be fun to use as an embellishment, for weaving, a felting project or so many other creative uses.. The wool was spun without any carding to keep the natural lock structure for a fluffy untamed lockspun art yarn. Spun on on a core of mohair and plied with both ribbon and cotton. The fleece comes from a caring mid west farm that works hard to preserve this heritage breed. The wool is from an adult fleece that I sorted through, washed twice, then hand painted using yellows and greens.
To spin the locks without carding their can be bits of vegetable matter in the yarn - please understand this if ordering. The animals live in barns and on pasture and vegetable matter can get caught up in tight locks which makes it impossible to get it all out.
