These wonderful old drawer handles were salvaged from an antique Victorian chest of drawers and are presented as they came to me, untouched and unpolished. They are beautifully ornate with scrolls and leaves swirling in true Art Nouveau style.
Both the back plates and the pulls are stamped on the reverse with letters C & A which I assume to be the initials of the makers, but I have been unable to find the full name. In addition there is a registration number 371129 which dates them to 1901.
The drawer pulls are in excellent condition and would clean up well, or could be left as they are with the patina of age. The bolts which would secure them to the furniture are in good working order, some with a little rust. My policy is that I will always refund any excess postage costs paid by buyers (less a sum for packaging) if costs turn out to be less than my calculations.
I will endeavour to post all items on the day I receive the order or, at the latest, within two working days. Customers should note that shipping must be paid for BEFORE I can post their orders.
Items will normally be sent by First Class or Second Class Post or Hermes courier to the UK depending on the size and weight of the parcel. Customers should allow up to five working days for receipt. Valuable items might require to be sent "Signed For" and I will notify customers when their order has been dispatched giving a tracking number if appropriate.
For international customers, I will send packages under 2kg by International Standard Small Parcel Post. If it is less expensive sending several items in more than one package, I will do so. However, it can sometimes be more cost-effective to use another carrier such as UPS for multiple purchases and/or heavier items.
If international customers wish their smaller Air Mail packages to be tracked, this will cost more. Please contact me BEFORE ordering if you wish tracking, so that I can calculate the exact shipping costs for you. Valuable items will be sent tracked or tracked and signed for and this is included in the shipping costs.
Shipping costs are only an estimate but my policy is that I will always refund any excess postage costs paid by buyers if these turn out to be less than my calculations. However, please note that the amount charged for shipping in my shop includes a sum for packaging of delicate items which will have to be taken into consideration before any refund of excess postage costs is given.
Most carriers do not accept responsibility for damage of china or glass items and I cannot be held responsible for damage in transit as I always pack VERY carefully to try and ensure that items arrive safely at their destination, as can be seen from my feedback comments!
For those who believe my shipping/packaging costs to be expensive compared with other sellers, I would stress that I will never compromise on packaging or jeopardise the safety of your purchases in order to save a few pounds on shipping costs, as this is a false economy, so please bear that in mind.
Buyers are responsible for any and all duties, tax and customs charges which may be incurred in their country. Please do not ask me to make false statements regarding purchase costs in order to evade local taxes and/or customs duty - or for any other reason - as it is against the law to do so, and I would be held solely responsible by the authorities involved, thereby jeopardising my good name and my business.
Payment should be made at the time of purchase. I accept all major credit cards, Paypal and Etsy gift cards. If I have reserved items with shipping set to zero for invoicing later, payment of the items should be made by the reservation date and shipping paid on receipt of invoice, or the items cannot be sent.
Returns & exchanges
All items will be VERY well wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap and/or wadding, and usually posted in a box or padded envelope. I regret I cannot be held responsible for any mishaps which occur in transit; however, if an item is lost by Royal Mail, or does not arrive within a reasonable time, please contact me and I will pursue the matter with them.
If an item is damaged, photographic evidence will be required to make a claim against the post office or carrier. In some cases the item may have to be returned at the buyer's expense in order to make a claim. Postage is non refundable in all cases. I am sorry but this clause does NOT apply to china or glass items, which are not insured by carriers.
Because of the nature of vintage items, there may be slight imperfections due to wear and tear but I will always honestly state these in my descriptions and show photographs where appropriate. No refunds will be given on those items described as imperfect or "seconds".
In the unlikely event of you being unhappy with your purchase, you are entitled to return the item within fourteen days of receipt. Should you wish to do so, please send me a message using Etsy "Conversations". A refund will be given within twelve days of the item being returned in the same condition it was shipped out. Please note that I am not responsible for any customs duty or tax paid by buyers nor am I responsible for return shipping costs. It is advisable to obtain proof of postage from your post office or shipping company in case the item goes missing in transit.
I am willing to reserve items for customers, for TWO DAYS ONLY, after which, unless the customer pays for the item, the reservation will be taken off the item concerned and it can be sold to another customer. Reminders will not normally be sent and it is up to the customer to pay for the reserved item before the due date.
Occasionally, I will reserve for longer if a customer specifically requests this and a non-refundable layaway payment on items might be requested in these cases.
I will occasionally require to give a customer's telephone number and/or e-mail address to shipping companies so that they can contact the customer to arrange delivery of their order - particularly international customers. This is the only time I will ever pass on information about my customers to third parties.
I will only hold customers' information on file in order to fulfil their orders and not for marketing purposes.
