Item details

This is a Stunning trailing vine plant in purple and very unusual in your garden! You can see why it was Thomas Jefferson's favorite trellis plant. This forms beautiful purple pods along with the flowers that are filled with the black and white seeds. This plant goes all the way back to the 1700's and sold to American nurseryman by the early 19th century. Thomas Jefferson recorded planting these in 1812 becoming his favorite.
They are fast growing and can grow 6 to 20 feet with twining stems. They do prefer a rich, well-drained soil and full sun with regular feeding. They are easy to grow with little maintenance. You will receive 10+ seeds from my 2017 crop and ready to plant this spring. I find it much easier to put the seeds on moist paper towels a few weeks before I want to plant them to let them germinate as they are a very hard seed. That is free and very important information! :)
