This is a small, handy little zoom lens that covers the most useful range of focal lengths. It's classisfied as a normal zoom. Put this one on your Nikon and leave all the rest of the lens bag at home. It's AIS, so it'll give you full program function with many newer cameras. This one has very little wear, except for some paint rub on the front edge of the zoom ring and the dings on the AI land you can see in pic 5. Despite the dings, it registers and meters properly with my cameras. It has like-new glass with no scratches, haze or fungus. I cleaned all the internal lens elements to remove the light haze that always accumulates in these old lenses from grease volatilization. You won't find one of this age without that light haze, even if it's been stored in perfect conditions, but this one will be new-bright. The aperture blades are clean and snappy, all control functions are smooth. The zoom has good friction, and doesn't creep when tilted. It even has a moderate macro function, down to 1:4, good for handheld flower shots. The zoom and focus are very smooth, and the aperture is dry and snappy with sharp clickstops. The last four pics were shot on film with this lens, handheld. The last two show the zoom range from the same camera location. They were scanned at 1200 dpi with no adjustments so they don't show the full sharpness. Typical of this model lens, this one isn't parfocal - At 105mm, infinity falls on the scale mark, but when you zoom to the stop at 35mm, infinity falls around the 13 meter mark on the scale. Just remember to refocus if you zoom from one end of the range to the other. Comes with both caps.
