This listing is for a precious 28-inch by 28-inch piece of a vintage patchwork quilt in a pattern with many names, including: Hummingbird, Periwinkle, Star Kites, Job's Trouble, and Snowball. It is a lovely old, soft piece. The fabrics overall are slightly faded, but the piece has that lovely, old, soft quilt character and intricate, dense quilting, all of which gives it wonderful character. Details are:
~ The entire piece is shown in the 2nd and 5th photos. One edge is a binding edge. The other two edges are rotary cut.
~ Some people would consider the piece to be slightly primitive. There are five patches that have small spots of wear, shown in the 4th photo. I didn't notice most of them until I held the piece to the light and looked at it from the back. The blemishes are taken into account in the price.
~ Overall, the print fabrics are in good condition. The piece is faded generally, with some pieces more faded than others. This quilt was loved and used, but it still is in wonderful condition for its age.
~ The fabrics are a wide variety of wonderful 1930s and 1940s prints, including many sweet florals. Some of them appear to be feed sack fabrics.
~ The stars were machine-pieced, probably with a treadle machine, but they were pieced to the solid cream fabric with hand stitches.
~ The quilting on the piece is amazing, done in tiny hand stitches at 10 SPI (Stitches Per Inch, with only stitches one side counted). In each white patch, there is a densely quilted flower. I have tried to show the flowers in some of the photos. Because of the dense quilting, the piece is still structurally very sound.
~ The backing is solid cream or off-white and looks like the same fabric that is on the front.
~ The piece has thin cotton batting, which I think is a thin flannel sheet.
I do my very best to accurately describe each piece of fabric I sell, but please remember that this piece is from a vintage cutter quilt that was gently used.

On purchases of multiple items, Etsy calculates combined shipping when purchases are made on the same invoice (all items in a cart at once), but the amount is not always correct. I refund shipping overcharges of more than $1.00 immediately following shipment.
If a buyer wishes to have an order shipped to an address other than the buyer's address, the shipping address must be entered during the checkout process. Specifying a different address by convo or message is not sufficient to permit me to ship to that address. If an address changed is requested, I will refund and cancel the order, and ask the buyer to repurchase using the correct shipping address, in compliance with the Etsy Seller Protection Policy.
I no longer ship internationally to any country. Shipping is to U.S. addresses only.
I accept payment through Paypal via Paypal balance, credit card, or direct bank transfer, or through Etsy payments. I do not accept eCheck payments. I do not offer layaway services or installment payment plans.
Returns & exchanges
I accept returns only if I have made a mistake in the listing or an item otherwise is not as described in the listing, as long as the return is postmarked within 3 business days of receipt and is returned in exactly the same condition as it was received. The buyer must contact me prior to returning any item. Refunds will be issued after the item has been returned.
All of my listings are sold on a first come, first served basis. I do not "hold" or "reserve" items for purchase at a later time.
My prices are the same for everyone. I do not add a cushion to prices to allow for negotiating price or provide for free shipping. I treat all buyers the same and keep my prices as low as possible for everyone, rather than negotiating special prices for individual buyers.
