Individually hand fashioned and glazed, earthenware spindle whorl.
I make these whorls completely by hand (no wheel or mold) and so you can expect them to be perfectly imperfect. They may not be 100% balanced (although some can be very close) but they are full of character, and every one is unique.
Having said that, and as many of the experienced spinners reading this will know, perfectly balanced whorls are not essential to medieval style "in-hand" and "short suspension" spinning techniques but if perfectly balanced whorls are what you need (or want) then lathe turned wooden whorls are the way to go. Some of which you will also find in my listings.
*** This listing is for the whorl only ***.
You will need a spindle stick that will take a whorl with the hole size stated below. If you don't have one I have them for sale in my shop, in a variety of woods.
Please Note: I do my best to grind away any sharp edges around the holes, but ceramic whorls are very likely to leave marks and indentations on wooden sticks.
