This is a very collectible button, but also would be good for enhancing any hand created project. It is stunning and a real eye catcher.
The button consists of 3 parts - a black bakelite dish with "rays" coming from the center; a butterscotch bakelite concave piece with "rays" coming from the center; and a shiny chrome 7/16" "bullet". The combination is wonderful. If it weren't concave, I think it looks like a parasol or an umbrella.
It is a very large NBS large, measuring 1 & 7/8" in diameter. The shank is a thick wire that is attached to the back of the chrome "bullet", passing through a hole in the button and formed into a loop.
These are all in very good, vintage condition. My pictures show this button as it presents itself. Please be sure to view all the pictures as they are a big part of my description. There are a few scratches, commensurate with their age, but nothing is distracting. You have to be really looking for fault to notice.
