This handmade pin cushion has a sweet primitive look. The cushion is made using a vintage quilt and doily with vintage buttons sewn on top. Attached to the middle button is a small, vintage, wooden spool with advertising that reads "Winsted Silk Company, West Winsted, Conn." The wooden spool has a tattered ticking fabric tied around it with a tiny vintage button attached. Two T-Pins inserted in the cushion add a simple touch. What makes this pin cushion unique is that it is stuffed in a vintage mini flour sifter. The sifter has a cute green wooden handle that was originally used to sift dry goods. A curvy burlap trim is attached to the top of the sifter for an added touch.
The pin cushion sifter measures approximately 9 3/4" diameter and 5 1/2" tall. The cushion is stuffed firmly with fiberfill and securely attached into the top of the mini flour sifter. The sifter's petite size makes it perfect for repurposing as a primitive pin cushion. It has slight rust in some areas and is missing the original handle used to hold the sifter in place while sifting flour. It comes from a smoke-free home.
This rustic pin cushion is one-of-a-kind and would make a great addition to any sewing room.
