1930s 1940s cats fabric VINTAGE embroidered panel hand stitched embroidery cat panel embroidery gift for cat lovers for framing
Darling old 1930s or 1940s hand embroidered fabric panel featuring two cats -- one is lying on a cobblestone path with daffodils in front of a cottage - the other peeking around the corner. . This panel has charming vintage appeal for any cat lover -- with long embroidered hand stitching on a rayon or cotton ground. This fabric panel was originally framed. The edges are yellowed and discolored because they were exposed to air and light - but if framed they will not show. The body of the work is lovely with not a stitch out of place. There is one dark age spot within the blue border at the top. There are no other dark age spots or discoloration spots in the body of the piece. The panel's ground fabric (which is probably cotton - or maybe rayon) has a gentle aged patina - that of course adds to the vintage charm - and is evenly aged -- not faded or splotchy. It has a nice golden sandy tone -- it was framed on cardboard.
Please use the photos to zoom in on the colors and details. There are lots of goldens, olive green and soft pink. The daffodil flowers, the blue border, the cats' white and black "fur" and the knotted pink "berry" balls were patiently stitched. If you zoom in close you can see the pale green panel pattern outline markings. The last 2 photos show the reverse side which demonstrates that the artist was meticulous in her finishing the piece with nice tie offs and no loose threads.
