Up until 1970 or so there was a weekly newspaper my folks subscribed to called Capper’s Weekly. It arrived by mail on Wednesday and covered a variety of subjects, International news, recipes, sewing, and even a serial novel or novella. It was anxiously awaited. It was Mom and Dad’s internet so to speak. These patterns were the type that could be ordered and arrived in the mail. There were quite a few of this type in Mom’s belongings. If your family got True Grit it was similar to that paper.
