**100% Colorado Alpaca Yarn from Responsible Farms** BUY DIRECTLY FROM THE ALPACA FARMER. All of our products are from our own animals or our friends' farms in Northern Colorado. We care about our animals and know them all by name - we believe you should too! Our yarns come with information about the animal's name, breed, and location. Your finished piece that you knit, crochet, weave, etc. will tell a story. We believe that knowing the animal who provided the fiber is an important part of that story.
This beautiful and soft alpaca yarn is a combination of Glacier, a beautiful white Huacaya Alpaca with very soft fiber, and 30% white Colorado Merino Wool to add stability and loftiness. The yarn is light and soft – while at the same time proving the warmth of alpaca. Perfect for mittens or a cowl given the soft fiber and its stability. The 2-ply yarn measures 250 yards and weighs about 115 grams. The yarn is in the natural white colors of the animals, but would dye very nicely should you want a little color.
The picture shows the yarn against a 6mm needle and the entrelac swatch was knit with a 7mm needle.
A little bit more about the animals. The wool is from a Colorado sheep farm near Estes Park, Colorado. The huacaya alpaca is from a beautiful white female huacaya alpaca named Glacier. Glacier is from a farm outside of Fort Collins, Colorado and enjoys the beautiful mountain views. After shearing their fleece, we then clean the fiber and process with our friends at a Colorado mill who blend in the merino wool and spin the yarn into a 2-ply fingering weight. Each part of our process involves a small business/farm in Colorado bringing you a fully MADE IN AMERICA product and Colorado Proud participant.
