Raw Fleece (unwashed) from one of our ewes, Miriam. Miriam is 75% Border Leicester and 25% Shetland. Miriam is a lamb, so her fleece will be dirtier and have more feed bits and VM in it than the adult fleeces. Shortie pies tend to get dribbled on by the taller sheep at feeding time.
The fleece is a beautiful dark brown/black with nice crimp and tight curls on the ends. The fleece has been skirted. Postage is charged at a flat rate of $15.00 per fleece, but any savings on shipping costs over $1.00 will be refunded.
Every effort has been made to capture colors correctly in the photographs, but please allow for differences in monitors. Picture #1 shows the outside of the fleece, picture #2 is a good representation of the locks, and picture #3 is the fleece rolled up so you are seeing the underside (cut ends).
All fleeces have been checked for soundness in four different areas. If there are any issues with a fleece it will be clearly stated in the description above. Our sheep are not coated and are fed grain and/or hay year round, along with their grazing time in the pasture. We keep our pastures as clean as possible and strive for clean fleeces, however, they will always find things to decorate their wool with. Lamb fleeces will be especially dirty. All of our sheep are well loved, and those that will let me, get chin scratches and nose kisses frequently.
