Item details

Raw Fleece (unwashed) from one of our rams, Beau. Beau is a full blood Border Leicester.
The fleece is a beautiful white with nice crimp and curl. The fleece has been skirted. Postage is charged at a flat rate of $15.00 per fleece, but any savings on shipping costs over $1.00 will be refunded.

Fleece Weight: 2 pounds, 12 ounces
Staple Length: approximately 4"
Beau's fleece has slight "Cotting", meaning that it got warm here a little early in the spring, before our shearer could get here. Beau got uncomfortable under his wool and began rubbing up against things. There is a bit of webbing - it has the look of spider web - where fibers from the base of the locks are slightly attached to each other instead of being free all the way to the cut ends. The majority of the lock and the curls at the ends of the locks are fine. I have worked with many fleeces like this and had no issues. The locks still separate fine. IT IS NOT FELTED. It just happens because Arkansas weather is crazy unpredictable and it impacts the sheep. BUYER IS PURCHASING WITH THE FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS FLEECE. I have discounted the fleece a little from its normal selling price due to this issue.

Every effort has been made to capture colors correctly in the photographs, but please allow for differences in monitors. Picture #1 shows the outside of the fleece, picture #2 is a good representation of the locks, and picture #3 is the fleece rolled up so you are seeing the underside (cut ends).

All fleeces have been checked for soundness in four different areas. If there are any issues with a fleece it will be clearly stated in the description above. Our sheep are not coated and are fed grain and/or hay year round, along with their grazing time in the pasture. We keep our pastures as clean as possible and strive for clean fleeces, however, they will always find things to decorate their wool with. Lamb fleeces will be especially dirty. All of our sheep are well loved, and those that will let me, get chin scratches and nose kisses frequently.
