Disheartened with the high cost of carbide turning tools, I made one for myself. I then made five more! These are well made and more than competitively priced. The handles are 10" long and are turned from Spalted Maple. The ferrules are copper and the shafts are 1/4" square steel. The shafts are press fit ~5 inches into the handles for a total length of 20-21 inches overall. The retaining screws are 1/4-20 countersunk stainless Phillips screws that will accommodate any standard square, tapered or round carbide insert. Carbide really makes a difference!
