Leaves have a very high nicotine content, potentially 20 times more than tobacco used in regular cigarettes! This is a sacred and ceremonial plant for Aztecs and other Native Americans, used to achieve mind alteration for ceremonial purposes. It is often smoked in conjunction with Ayahuasca ceremonies and is known to both ground and stimulate you, helping to clear energy fields and ground strong intention as well as initiating purging.
Medicinally, it has been used to treat bruises, wounds, infections and even baldness.
Today it is grown as an ornamental and also used as an insecticide against infestations of aphids, spider mites and other tiny pests.
