Item details

Hard to find monkeys rubber stamp with bamboo, made in Japan and originally purchased and hand carried from Japan, c. 1980. Stamp is used, but in good condition, with very little wear. Rubber is still soft and stampable, probably used only once in 1980 to celebrate the Year of the Monkey. Image features sitting mother and child monkeys and a bamboo plant. Size is approximately 1.75"h x 2"w x 3.5"d.

Original cardboard box is covered in grey and gold woodgrain patterned paper is fair condition. The box shows signs of wear on the edges and corners. Grey paper on exterior of box has areas where paper has lifted away from the carboard surface. White and red paper label applied to box cover showing the stamp image and flecks of dark red ink has yellowed with time. Bottom of box has a small red and white paper ITOYA label. White cardboard interior, also yellowed from time, shows residue from red ink. Size is approximately 2.25" x 2.5" x 4".

Kept in dark storage for over 30 years.
