This block of wood is actually made up of 25 separate pieces of White Oak, Red Oak, Southern Red Oak, and a few pieces of Yellow Pine for contrast. Designed to show the many layers that are visible when you reveal the end grain, and the various patterns you can achieve by different cutting methods. This block can be sliced down and added to an existing project, used on its own for coasters, puzzles, shelves. Or cut into smaller blocks for carving, lots of possibilities. It's interesting to see how the grain pattern moves through the wood, and where exactly that funny burl on one end begins.
Block measures 4 1/2" x 6" x 11" and weighs a little over 5lbs. It took days to prep, cut and stack it, and more for it to be pressed until dry.
