Gorgeous skein of hand dyed, tonal grey yarn on a soft, superwash wool base. Creating the perfect grey yarn is the reason I started hand dyeing, so this colorway obviously is my favorite. It is a mix of all the beautiful shades of grey (no book reference intended), ranging from light grey to nearly black.
This skein of LAS PALMAS is dyed on my GUAPO DK weight base, a light worsted 100% superwash Polwarth wool yarn, which is perfect for knitting soft garments, accessories, or other type of projects that deserve a soft and smooth type of wool. Polwarth is similar to merino, but has a little more sheen to it. One skein will be enough for a hat, a pair of mittens, or another small project.
All of my yarns are dyed up in my kitchen in sunny Gran Canaria – one of the teeny tiny Spanish islands in the Atlantic. Therefore, like all my handmade items, they receive Spanish names, or are named after Canarian places that they are somehow related to. This colorway reminded me of the usually cloudy skies in Las Palmas, the capital city in the north of the island. Somehow, the weather there is never as good as in the south. To end on a more positive note however, ;) what better way to describe my number 1 colorway by naming it after the island’s capital city?
DETAILS » colorway: LAS PALMAS (tonal grey with color changes ranging from light grey to nearly black) » base: GUAPO (100% superwash Polwarth wool) » weight: DK / light worsted (100 grams / 225 meters [246 yards]) » suggested needle size: 3.5-4.5 mm [UK 10-7, US 4-7] » care instructions: machine wash your knitted project on a cold and gentle cycle. However, to ensure longevity, I always recommend to wash by hand anyway. Squeeze out excess water with a towel and lay flat to dry. » warning: hand dyed yarns may bleed a little during first wash.
COLOR DIFFERENCES All skeins of yarn are dyed separately. This means that, even though I carefully write down my recipes, all skeins of the same colorway can (and probably will) vary slightly in the intensity or distribution of their colors. Different bases take colors differently as well, meaning that the same colorway can look different on different bases. When working on a larger project that requires more than one skein of yarn, I would advice you to alternate between skeins a few rows before definitively adding a new skein of yarn. This will make any color differences between the skeins fade into one another in your knitting, rather than creating a distinct line.
CUSTOM ORDERS If you see a colorway you would like on a different base, or if you have seen something in my shop that is not currently listed, let me know! Even though it may not always be possible for me to exactly recreate colorways, I would be more than happy to see what I can do. It is also possible to custom order a larger quantity of skeins. Just click the ‘request custom order’ bottom, let me know your wishes, and we can discuss the options!

SHIPPING All orders are shipped in 1-3 business days. The time it takes for an order to arrive at its new home depends on the country it is shipped to and may vary considerably. Usually, shipments arrive within 1-2 weeks, but longer shipping times do occur occasionally. I cannot be held accountable either for delays caused by customs or for the loss of a package due to postal errors. Please also take into account the possibility that your country charges extra tax over your shipment.

I love this colorway. I always have a hard time finding tonal greys that I like, and this one has blown me away!
