This knife was forged from a compound twist billet of 15N20 and 1080 that was split lengthwise which leads to the different patterns on front and back. The handles are ground from black linen micarta and were attached with Gflex epoxy and peened brass pins.
The edge is roughly 3.5" long, the overall length is approximately 7", the blade is just under 1/4" thick at the spine and weighs approximately 4.25 oz (5.45 oz including sheath).
This knife was normalized 3 times, oil quenched and tempered twice, two hours at 425F and two hours at 400F. The knife will ship with the hand-stitched bridle leather sheath pictured.
I forged the damascus billet from scratch with a hydraulic press, and then hand-hammered the billet into a knife, followed by grinding, filing, polishing, etching and re-polishing. I do not re-use damascus stock bought from someone else.
Note 15N20 and 1080 are not stainless steels, so periodic coating with something like mineral oil or carnauba wax is standard maintenance - frequency depends on the 'climate'.
